El Aguila Real is a standout Mexican restaurant located in the heart of Battle Mountain, NV, offering an authentic culinary experience that transports you straight to the vibrant streets of Mexico. Known for its rich, bold flavors and a menu that spans from classic comfort foods to regional specialties, this eatery is a must-visit for anyone craving genuine Mexican cuisine in central Nevada.
The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere with a small-town rustic charm that makes you feel right at home. The friendly, family-run vibe enhances the dining experience, where attentive service pairs perfectly with dishes crafted from recipes steeped in tradition and passion.
Among the highlights of El Aguila Real's menu, the Steak Cabo San Lucas stands out as a succulent treat, grilled to perfection and bursting with smoky, savory goodness. Fans of street tacos will delight in the Tacos De Carne Asada, tender and juicy beef served on warm corn tortillas that deliver a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The Chile Colorado and Chicken Fajitas offer hearty, well-spiced options that showcase authentic Mexican seasoning without overwhelming the palate.
One of the restaurant’s undeniable charms lies in its vast selection of combination plates—each a satisfying medley, such as the classic Enchilada & Chile Relleno pairings or the generous Chimichanga & Choice Of Chile Relleno, Enchilada Or Tamale—allowing diners to sample multiple favored dishes in one memorable meal. For those seeking lighter fare, options like the Taco Salad and Tortilla Soup provide fresh, comforting alternatives.
El Aguila Real also offers a tempting array of desserts to round off your meal, including the creamy, delicate Flan and the indulgently crispy yet cool Fried Ice Cream. To complement their dishes, handcrafted drinks like the signature Margaritas—notably the refreshing Kiwi Margarita—and cold Cerveza add a festive touch, although some patrons have noted the pricing on drinks can be steep compared to the food.
What truly sets El Aguila Real apart, according to locals and travelers alike, is not just the food’s authenticity but the heartfelt hospitality delivered by the family behind the scenes. Reviewers consistently praise the genuine warmth of the service and the home-cooked quality of each plate. “The best Mexican food in central Nevada,” raves one satisfied guest, emphasizing the restaurant’s commitment to tradition, especially highlighting the “made the good way” Chile Relleno, prepared with eggs instead of breading—an honest nod to classic Mexican technique.
Whether you’re refueling during a road trip or indulging in a leisurely lunch, El Aguila Real offers a flavorful journey that lingers long after the last bite. It’s a rare gem in Battle Mountain, blending authentic tastes, a welcoming ambiance, and a menu bursting with variety and depth—a true culinary treasure in Nevada’s dining landscape.
Food was wonderful and very reasonably priced. They don’t have a drink menu so you just ask for a beer (from the bottle selection on the wall) and I ordered a margarita. It was good but I was surprised by the $14 price. It was $5 more than my meal! The Corona Light had a “best by” date of Feb 2024.
The best Mexican food in central Nevada!! (Sergio's in Elko is pretty close tho...) I highly recommend the Chile Relleno, it's made the good way with eggs, not breaded!! The family that runs it are such kind people too! Authentic as it gets! By far the best place to eat in Battle Mountain; ????????
Total small town gem, we stopped here to charge our EV and end up having lunch in this neighborhood authentic Mexican restaurant. Food was awesome with small town rustic vibe. Great service overall
It was a tasty stop on the way home. The Fajita salad was delicious! We will definitely be back by our next time through Battle Mountain.
I loved this place! The waiter is a very nice and easy going man. And the cooks were top notch. 10/10 place. Better than most Mexican restaurants in Winnemucca. If not all! Would recommend.
A wonderful surprise in a little town with not much in the way of restaurants. The food was very tasty, fresh ingredients. The veggie fajitas were delicious. The combo plate was very good as well. The homemade lemonade was a delightful treat. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Incredible fajitas. Flavorful and a decent amount of food. Sorry for the pic but we couldn’t stop eating it before I took this.
